Frequently Asked Questions

Wood oil is a protective finish that penetrates the wood to enhance its natural appearance while providing durable protection. It highlights the grain, enriches the colour and helps protect against wear, moisture and everyday use. High-quality hardwax oils can both colour and protect the wood in a single layer.

The wood must always be sanded scratch-free and cleaned thoroughly. Any old finishes should be fully removed during renovation. After sanding, all dust must be eliminated—first by vacuuming and then by using an appropriate cleaner to ensure the oil bonds directly to the wood fibres instead of to dust.

Once the surface is clean and dry, the oil is applied evenly in thin, manageable sections. It is allowed to absorb for a few minutes, after which all excess oil must be wiped away. The surface should always feel non-sticky when finished. Proper drying and ventilation are essential for a strong and durable result.

Always prepare the wood exactly the same way you plan to treat the final project, and test the colour first using a small sample bottle. When multiple containers are used on one site, they must be mixed together to guarantee a uniform colour. Working wet-on-wet prevents visible overlaps. Glossiness after application is normal and disappears after a few cleanings with the recommended maintenance products.
